Professor Carmelo Majorana, University of Padova, Italy

Prof. Carmelo Majorana is Full Professor of Solid and Structural Mechanics and at the Department of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering (ICEA), University of Padova and Coordinator of the International Doctoral School: Sciences of Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering, of the same institution. He was formerly Head of the Department of Structural and Transportation Engineering at the same University from 2003 to 2009, and, more recently, Head of the Department ICEA, from 2011 to 2015. He was President of the Excellence Centre for Teaching Research and Advanced Formation of Ca' Foscari University of Venice from 2003 to 2009 and Head of SSIS (Inter-Atenaeum Specialization School for Secondary Teacher Formation) of Veneto from 2008 to 2010. The activity of Professor Majorana at the Department of Structural and Transportation Engineering began on 1978 with a research grant, and continued first as a Researcher and then as Associate Professor since 1998. Prof. Majorana’s teaching activity has concerned over the years also: Advanced Solid Mechanics, Computational Mechanics, Theory of Structures and Structural Dynamics. His research activity involves mainly: mechanical computation of material behaviour with emphasis on thermo-hygro-mechanical modeling, dynamic stability of structural elements, concrete behaviour at high temperature and High Performance Concrete characterization; it is documented by more than 300 papers, 70 of which are published in international journals
